Airports are a perfect environment to utilise displacement ventilation due to their high ceilings and large quantities of people.
High level lighting loads which can cause a major increase to the room heat gains can be dramatically reduced and in certain instances the fresh air load requirements can be that of the supply air volume. Most airport projects require bespoke terminals to suit the requirements.
A design programme is then set up usually resulting in prototype terminals being manufactured and tested to ensure that the client is comfortable with not only the visual appearance but its technical capabilities. Once all approved, the units are manufactured and supplied to the client, resulting in a successful displacement system, beneficial to everyone.
