Bulgari Hotel

The new Bulgari Hotel in London is set in the heart of Knightsbridge, the City’s most prestigious neighbourhood; it is the first new luxury hotel to be created in London for 40 years and required a new level of comfort to be achieved.

Due to the hotels luxurious design and standards, the bar was set incredibly high to create an internal environment to match.

A displacement system was chosen to provide the perfect indoor climate within the main public spaces, which not only reduced the overall running costs of the building but provided an ideal internal climate no matter what the circumstances.

Bespoke Air Displacement

In conjunction with the architects and the interior designers Comfort set about creating over 100 bespoke displacement terminals to literally disappear into each rooms chosen theme.

A series of architecturally designed wall coverings and screens were selected to provide a visually pleasing fascia to many of the terminals, thus allowing large air volumes to be introduced into the main public areas without any signs of ventilation being on show.

Many areas were treated utilising the fixed furniture available such as bookcases, bench seating, display cabinets etc, which provided parts of the structure to be utilised as supply air plenums. Major concerns during the design process were the air velocities which could be introduced within the seated and sensitive areas. Due to the very nature of the building and the client’s requirements it became obvious that this problem could not occur, and therefore all air velocities within each space had to be kept to a minimum.

Each terminal was therefore designed and tested to suit its individual application which encompassed discharge air patterns, noise ratings and air velocities generated.
